I have a dear friend who is my first phone call when things in my business start to get me down. She's wise, and patient, and not afraid to grab me by the scruff of the neck and give me some tough love when I need it. I was on the phone with her the other day, working through some gnarly issue or another, when she said to me, "Lacy, remember to ask yourself 'Whose life will you add value to today?'"
And I paused, because as usual, when I'm in the midst of navel-gazing or stress-planning my own failures, I wasn't really looking beyond my own nose. I was so wrapped up in thinking about MY business and MY worries that I wasn't really thinking about other people's business or worries, which is kind of the point of what I do.
I kept noodling this idea over (and over and over and over, as I tend to do), wondering how I can add value to people's lives in a real way, right away. And then, as often happens when I'm focused on an issue, themes started to develop in my conversations with other folks. I heard, repeatedly, from clients and contacts and friends in business, that they really just wanted a time and a space where they could feed off other people's energy and put together a plan for 2021. Once I'd heard that from more than three people, I knew I had it—how I can add value.
So, to that end, I'm holding a FREE strategic planning workshop on January 12th. It is going to be a jam-packed two and a half hours, built especially for solopreneurs and small business owners without a management or leadership team. People who start strategic planning and immediately get stuck because it is REALLY FREAKING HARD to do strategic planning in vacuum. I'm happy to give two and a half hours of my time to as many folks as I can cram into a Zoom meeting in order to help those who survived 2020 THRIVE in 2021.
If you, dear reader, are interested, or you know someone who is, please share this blog and this link. You can add value, and help me add value, to someone else's life in a real sense, today.
